Privacy Policy
Last updated: 9 September 2026
Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how DataSerp ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses and protects personal information in connection with the dataserpapi.com website, the DataSerp search and extraction API, and the DataSerp Drone hosting programme.
We take your privacy seriously. If you are in the UK or the EEA, the UK GDPR and the UK Data Protection Act 2018 apply to our processing of your personal data.
What we collect
Website and contact forms: when you complete the early-access or host application forms, we receive only the information you choose to provide, such as your name, work email, company and message. Host applications are anonymous — all fields except device type are optional, and you may leave them blank.
API usage: when you use the API, we process requests that include your API key, the search parameters you send, and technical metadata such as IP address and timestamps. This is necessary to operate the service, prevent abuse and measure usage for billing.
Drone hosts: we do not require an account, and we do not collect, retain or profile any personal data or machine data about you or the device hosting a drone. Drones are identified by an anonymous key only. Search tasks are forwarded to users and are not tied to any host identity.
Payments: where payment is collected, we use a payment processor and do not store full card details ourselves.
AI processing
When you include an optional aiInstruction in an API request, the search results and your instruction are processed by a third-party large language model provider to generate the AI response. Please do not include sensitive personal data in queries or AI instructions.
How we use your information
To operate, secure and improve the website and API
To authenticate API requests and prevent fraud or abuse
To measure usage and calculate billing for successful searches and AI tokens
To respond to enquiries and grant early-access or drone keys
To comply with our legal and regulatory obligations
Sharing and disclosure
We do not sell personal data. We share data only with trusted processors who help us operate the service (for example hosting and email providers, and the AI provider described above), and where required by law, regulation or legal process. We may also disclose data to enforce our Terms of Service or protect the rights, property or safety of DataSerp, our users or others.
Retention
We keep personal data only for as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law. API request logs are retained no longer than necessary for security and billing. Host applications are not retained beyond responding to you unless you ask us to keep in touch.
Security
We apply appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including encryption in transit, access controls and restricted storage. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Cookies
This website does not use tracking cookies or advertising analytics. We do not set cookies that profile you or your machine.
Responsibility for content
The Service returns content that originates from third-party sources. We are not the author, owner or publisher of that content and are not responsible for its accuracy, legality or usefulness, or for how any user chooses to use it.
Users must not submit queries or use data for unlawful purposes, including in breach of copyright or other intellectual property rights, and must comply with all applicable laws.
Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us through the contact form on this website. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if you are in the UK, or your local supervisory authority.
Children
The service is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date above and, where appropriate, we will notify you through the service.
